From Survival To Music
I’m Sam from Gaza City. I’m 23 years old, and I graduated from the University College of Applied Science with a diploma in Software and Database.
I started learning music and writing my own songs in 2023, at the beginning of the war, after I experienced trauma that changed my life completely.
The story began when the IDF bombed our house. My family was under the rubble — my mother, my father, my two brothers, and my cousins. I lost everything I had: my laptop, my small studio, and the place where I was planning to begin my passion for rap and Arabic music. But I never stopped.
After that, we were displaced to a school because we thought it would keep my family and me safe, but it wasn’t safe at all. The bombing never stopped. Suddenly, the army was outside, shooting at the school, and we were forced to flee again to the south.
During that displacement, I saw bodies on the ground and dogs eating them. I will never forget that moment.
We reached the south and started living in tents. During that time, I was writing tracks like “Homeless,” “Lost Mom,” and “Bad Story.” I kept listening to rap music, teaching myself English, and I decided to rap in English because it is a global language. I still believe my story can reach the world through it.
I spent three years of my life with almost nothing ,just trying to survive each day while planning for my future in music.
Then I came back to my home, but there was no home left. My whole town had been destroyed, and I couldn’t find a place to stay or live.
Alhamdulillah, I’m living in a tent right now with my family. I won’t lie to you — life here is extremely hard.
I’m trying to survive each day and find a way out so I can chase my dreams and my passion for music.
Later, I got to know my best friends: Qasam, Raji, Billy, and Garry. Raji is a rocker and has a band in Gaza called Osprey V — yes, in Gaza, I know it sounds insane. Rock is still alive in Gaza.
My friend Qasam has a studio and he is a producer. He helped me record my music. Billy is from the United Kingdom and handsome person with a good heart. He is still helping me improve my flow, delivery, and accent. You know it’s hard to learn English without practicing it.
Finally, Garry Mc from Ireland, the leader of The Kabin Studio, is helping me with music and improving my skills. I truly appreciate it. I’m grateful for them ,they are a gift from God.
Now I have released my first cover track, “FEAR” by NF, with a music video. I spent five months on this track. I know it sounds insane, but this is life here in Gaza City. I tried so hard to release it as soon as possible. I couldn’t do it faster, but I tried.
Now my music video is on all platforms. You can watch it and support my journey.
Your support will help me focus on music, tell the story, and let the world listen.
